Investigators can't find exact cause of cabin blaze

September 16th, 2013 - 6:21am

(Port Angeles) -- Fire investigators have been unable to pinpoint the cause of a fire that leveled a cabin west of Port Angeles.

The fire burned the cabin early last Tuesday morning at 64 Lake Aldwell Road.

No one was in the rental at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Investigators say a renter, who had been in the home for the past 15 years, had just moved out the day before.

The 60-year-old cabin had undergone minor electrical work and remodels over the years but there were apparently no issues with the property recently and there were no landlord-renter issues.

Fire District Two investigators have listed the cause of the fire as "undetermined". The origin of the fire was located in the northeast corner of the house where a washer, dryer and hot water heater were located.
