September 26th, 2013 - 5:50am

(Port Angeles) – The United Way of Clallam County has kicked off its annual fundraising drive.

Organizers hope to raise a million dollars in the campaign that runs into the first part of next year.

The campaign theme this year is “We Are United.” It was kicked off with the annual Day of Caring event earlier this month that brought out more than 200 volunteers at 11 sites across the county. United Way officials say they donated 809 hours of volunteer service valued at more than $16,000!

Campaign Chair this year is Buck Gieseke from Integrity One Home Mortgages.

United Way of Clallam County provides funding year-round to 23 local partner agencies and four Community Solutions Initiatives.

The majority of its funding comes from the annual community campaign.
