Garage fire destroys travel trailer in PA

October 3rd, 2013 - 5:14am

(Port Angeles) No damage estimate yet after fire engulfed a garage in Port Angeles Wednesday.

P-A firefighters responded to 32-49 South Regent Street at 3:31 yesterday afternoon.

On arrival, they reported a two-story garage was fully engulfed in flames.

Fire Captain Duke Moroz says access to the garage was down a long private driveway.

Firefighters had to lay a 5-inch supply line from the nearest hydrant in order to bring water to the structure.

Crews extinguished the blaze in the garage, but not before a travel trailer inside was completely destroyed.

Fire Department personnel responded to the blaze with 1 fire engine, a medic unit, a breathing supply unit and one staff vehicle.

Clallam County Fire District 2 responded with one fire engine to the scene and an additional engine to the Port Angeles station to cover additional calls.

City Light crews also responded in order to secure power to the structure.

At the time of the garage fire, Port Angeles Fire Department crews were already on the scene of a medical aid call.

It was the fifth emergency call they had responded to within a 60 minute period.

The garage is owned by Cliff Smith, who was home at the time of the fire.

No cause had been determined and no injuries were reported.
