(Port Angeles) -- The “First Step Family Support Center” was the recent recipient of a grant that will enable them to assist local families by providing new cribs and information on safe sleeping for new born infants.
The grant is for the “Cribs for Kids” program.
“First Step” expects to receive up to 80 cribs and accessories by November for immediate distribution.
First Step Development Manager Staci Matthes says in order to receive this grant, “First Step” needed to find a source for matching the grant funding.
Matthes said that a generous donation of one-thousand dollars from the Port Angeles Kiwanis Club gave the agency the support it needed to win this grant.
In addition to the “Cribs for Kids” program, First Step partners with United Way to provide a slew of family-oriented programs that assist low income families.
