Troopers seek additional witnesses of 101 collision

(Port Angeles) – State Patrol detectives are seeking additional witnesses to the fatal car/pedestrian collision Monday night on Highway 101 near Golf Course Rd in Port Angeles.
A female pedestrian was crossing the Highway from South to North at about 8:18 p.m.
She was struck in the outside westbound lane of the Highway by a 1988 Chevrolet Beretta that stopped at the scene.
Trooper Russ Winger says the female victim was wearing dark clothing and was using the assistance of a walker with a small basket attached.
State Patrol Detective Joi Haner is asking anyone who may have witnessed the victim crossing the roadway or may have seen the actual collision, to call and speak with him at 360-473-0147.
Meantime, the Port Angeles woman who allegedly drove the car will be arraigned tomorrow (Thursday) on a charge of vehicular homicide in connection that collision.
49-year-old Marlene Terese Brand of Port Angeles made an initial appearance in Clallam County Superior Court yesterday.
Bail was set at 35-thousand dollars.
The victim of the accident has been identified as 49-year-old Bonita Bickford of Port Angeles.
State Patrol Detectives are continuing their investigation while they wait for the results of a toxicology exam that should provide specifics on any drugs or alcohol that may have contributed to this incident.
