(Port Angeles) A jury is now deliberating the fate of a Port Angeles man in his murder trial for allegedly killing his next door neighbor.
The jury got the case yesterday afternoon in the trial of Bobby BJ Smith.
Prosecutors say Smith shot 63-year-old Robert Fowler to death in Smith's home along Vashon Avenue in June of 2011. Smith told police he shot Fowler several times when he grabbed a knife and demanded money.
Fowler's autopsy showed he was shot several times and killed with a single shot to the back of the head.
Before the case went to the jury Smith took the stand saying Fowler was a threat to him and his teenaged daughter.
Smith was arrested weeks after the shooting in Texas. He was not picked up until after police finished an investigation into the incident.
