Ballots arriving for Clallam voters

(Port Angeles) Clallam County residents should start receiving their general election ballots in the mail today.

Clallam County auditor Patty Rosand says her office sent out more than 46-thousand-six hundred ballots on Wednesday.

Rosand says local voters should get their ballots by the end of the week.

It's on off-year election with a number of non-partisan city council, school board and fire district races. The only countywide race of for a seat on the Port of Port Angeles commission.

Statewide there are two initiatives.

I-517 would change rules for protecting and lengthening the time for signature gatherers to get initiatives on the ballot.

Initiative 522 would impose labeling requirements on genetically engineered foods and seeds offered for retail sale in Washington.

New residents to Washington State may register to vote at the Auditor's Office located at the Clallam County Courthouse in Port Angeles.
