No charges yet in fatal car-pedestrian crash

(Port Angeles) – A woman involved in a fatal collision with a pedestrian on Highway 101 in east Port Angeles won't face charges....for now.
Prosecutors say they're waiting for more word from the State Patrol investigation, and the charges could be refiled against 49-year-old Marlene Brand.
49-year-old Bonita Bickford of Port Angeles was killed earlier this month when investigators say Brand's car hit her as she crossed Highway 101 east of Golf Course Road. Bickford, who was using a walker, was outside a crosswalk.
Investigators say Brand had a blood alcohol level of 0.124.
Prosecutors earlier declined to file vehicular homicide charges in the case. Now potential DUI charges against Brand have been dismissed without prejudice, which means they could be refiled.
The State Patrol says it has not yet finished its investigation.
