County, OMC to hold health-care summit
October 25th, 2013 - 5:19am
(Clallam County) The recent roll-out of the “Affordable Care Act”, has local health care providers busy, planning how to best handle the health care priorities for Clallam County.
A Community Health Summit will take place on Wednesday, October 30th at Peninsula College, to address those priorities. The summit was conceived when County Health Officials and administrators at the Olympic Medical Center realized they had overlapping goals for providing specified health care on the Olympic Peninsula.
Health officials locally have been meeting over the past year to come up with a focus for the summit.
This combined effort revealed six concerns for local heath care providers ranging from better chronic health treatments, to providing better mental health services in the area.
Forty-seven health care professionals are already signed up to attend the upcoming summit, but organizers are also encouraging members of the public to attend and offer feedback. The summit at Peninsula College runs from 1-5 PM on October 30th. Persons interested in attending should contact Iva Burks, at the County's Health and Human Services.
