County may allow off-road vehicles on some roads

(Port Angeles) –- Off-road vehicles could soon be allowed on some county roads.
Clallam County Commissioners are considering a move that would allow certain off-road vehicles to use county roads.
Those road have a current speed limit of 35 miles per hour or less.
A state bill gives local jurisdictions the go-ahead for drivers of small All-terrain vehicles to use such roads, where normally licenses and lights are required.
County road engineer Ross Tyler says legislators created the basic framework of the legislation, but are leaving the rest to the local jurisdictions.
