Police dog tracks domestic violence suspect

November 22nd, 2013 - 5:18am

(Port Angeles) Port Angeles police brought in a police dog to help capture a suspect in a domestic violence incident.

Wednesday morning, police were called to reports of an assault in the 1700 block of McDonald Street.

Cops determined that Kyle Birmingham, aka Lauder, was a suspect in the case.

But Birmingham left the scene on foot apparently armed with a knife. He reportedly returned to the scene about three hours later.

Police returned with a K-9 unit and surrounded the area. Birmingham was was tracked to an outbuilding and eventually came out without further incident.

Police say the track to the outbuilding was difficult and would've been impossible without a trained K-9 and handler.

Birmingham was booked into the jail on possible second degree assault charges.
