Annual Thanksgiving event set again for Port Angeles

November 26th, 2013 - 5:27am

(Port Angeles) -- For five years, Reath Ellefson has hosted a community thanksgiving celebration in Port Angeles.

And this year is no exception. The event started as a way to say thanks to community for supporting Ellefson in her battle with cancer. She didn't think she would live past the first event.

"I think God has a plan for me; and it's this meal," said Ellefson. "Last year was incredible, we had so many people come and enjoy the event."

Ellefson has continued to live on and stay healthy. The Thanksgiving event has become her passion and something she spends most of the year planning.

"Sure I do a lot of other things through the year, but this is my baby," said Ellefson.

Last year, about 700 people attended the free meal at Queen of Angels. But this year, Ellefson thinks more might come, and she could use some help. You can reach Ellefson at 460-3558. The community Thanksgiving event run Thursday from 11:30-3:30 again at Queen of Angels in Port Angeles.
