Sequim city hall plans to be unveiled

December 2nd, 2013 - 5:22am

(Sequim) The city of Sequim this week gets a look at proposed designs for a new city hall and police station.

Two architectural/construction teams wanting the job to build the new facility will show their plans tomorrow. One firm goes at 1 pm and the second at 3 pm in a meeting with the city's facility committee at the Sequim Transit Center. There will be an open house for the public to view the plans and ask questions at 5:30 Tuesday evening.

The city is looking to spend about 15 million-dollars building what will house city offices and the police operations. The 30-thousand square foot building would be located just east of the city's current city hall.

The project is being paid mostly through a bond sale earlier this year. It also plans to use money from its utility fund. The bond will be paid back using a one-tenth of one percent increase in sales taxes approved by voters in Sequim last year as well savings the city will get by shutting down various other properties it now rents for city offices and police.
