State wants pictures of "king tides"

December 6th, 2013 - 11:15am

SEATTLE (AP) - The high winter tides known as "king tides" are rising on Washington coastal waters this month and next.

The state Ecology Department says they are a normal and naturally occurring event. But they offer a glimpse of how rising sea levels from climate change could affect the shorelines.

The department is asking the public to share photos of high tides through its website.
