Stenson sentenced back to prison, filing appeal

(Port Angeles) – A former Sequim man was sent back to prison for life without parole for the double killings of his wife and business partner more than 20 years ago.
Clallam County Superior Court Judge Brooke Taylor yesterday sentenced Darold Stenson to two life terms without the possibility of release.
Stenson was found guilty a month ago in his retrial for murdering his wife, Denise, and a business partner, Frank Hoerner, at the Stensons' exotic bird farm near Sequim.
In May 2012, the state Supreme Court reversed Stenson's previous 1994 convictions and death penalty in the case.
Prosecutors decided not to seek the death penalty this time.
Less than a half hour after the sentencing, Stenson was loaded in a transport van and taken to Shelton for processing into the state prison system.
Stenson's attorneys have already filed an appeal of the latest verdict. They issued the notice to the appeal during yesterday's sentencing.
