Rider cagers bite Bulldogs

The Rider boys took a 74-64 win from North Mason in Port Angeles, while the Rider girls stormed past the Lady Bulldogs in Belfair, 67-26.

BOYS - PA got off to an 11-2 lead early, but North Mason roared back to trail 15-14. Thee 6 ties and 8 lead changes before the Riders led, 34-31 at halftime.

In the second half, PA jumped ahead 51-44, then held off a couple of rallies before getting some easy baskets as the end.

PA hit 13 of 18 two point shots in the second half and wound up 25/43 or 58 percent, offsetting a poor 5/23 long range effort.

Hunter Hathaway sparked the second half with 13 of his 21 points. Derek Schumacher had 19, Hayden Gunderson 18. Matt Becker and Matt Duckworth had 16 each for NM, Mat Boka had 14, Davontea Davenport 11.

PA goes to Kingston Friday with a 2-0 league record.

GIRLS -The hot-shooting Riders roared to a 23-9 first period lead, led 34-15 at halftime and 55-25 at the end of three, holding NM to one point in the final period.

Krista Johnson had 18, Baylee Jones 14, Kylee Jeffers and Jolene Millsap 8 each.

Port Angeles hosts Kingston Friday and WF West Saturday.
