Clallam District Court to offer traffic court through email
December 18th, 2013 - 5:33am
(Port Angeles) –- If you get a traffic ticket in the central and eastern part of Clallam County, you may be able to have your hearing on the matter via email.
Clallam District Court One Judge Rick Porter says his traffic court will offer the e-mail option for anyone who has received a citation for a traffic infraction.
Those issued a ticket can use the court's website to pay fines or contest the ticket.
Porter says if the system goes as planned, adjudication of your ticket could be over and done with in as little as two weeks.
Under the new program, only traffic infractions will be eligible for an e-mail-type hearing. Criminal citations, such as driving under the influence, will still require an actual courtroom appearance.
For those who prefer an actual court appearance for an infraction, the normal traffic calendar is still available.
The new email system should be operating January 6th.
