PREP BASKETBALL: Sequim boys 58, North Mason 36

(Sequim) -- A tenacious man-to-man defense by the Sequim High Wolves fueled a 17-0 first quarter surge that led to a 58-36 romp over the North Mason Bulldogs Wednesday night at Rick Kaps Gym.

Sequim's Alex Barry had 11 of his game-high 22 points in the opening stanza.

Matt Duckworth scored the first North Mason basket with 7:48 remaining in the second period. Duckworth finished the night with 20 points and had 11 of the 13 markers by the Bulldogs before intermission, when Sequim had a 34-13 bulge.

The Wolves played their entire bench in the final half.

Vance Willis had 11 for Sequim, Rory Kallappa added 10 and Josh Cibene had 6.

Matt Becker paced the Bulldogs with 8 tallies and Davontea Davenport had 4.

North Mason (2-5 overall and 0-5 in Olympic League action hosts Olympic Friday.

Sequim (4-1 overall and 3-1 in Olympic League play) travels to Klahowya Friday.

In the girls game Wednesday in Belfair, Sequim defeated North Mason 46-26.
