ACTI employees voted to leave union

December 19th, 2013 - 2:44pm

(Port Angeles) -- Employees at Angeles Composite Technologies Incorporated have voted to leave the International Association of Machinists.

After having had the opportunity to have a union represent them, the employees decided to vote the union out and work directly with A-C-T-I again.

The decision at an election initiated by the employees and run by the National Labor Relations Board was overwhelming - the 75 bargaining unit members voted over 2-to-1 in favor of decertification.

Back in September, union officials said the company was unwilling to reach a "fair contract".

The company claimed they had been negotiating with the union in good faith for more than 16 months.

The ACTI employees previously voted to join the union about a year and a half ago.
