Riders split with Knights

GIRLS - Known for their outside shooting, the Roughrider Girls pulled away from Bremerton with a strong inside game starting in the second quarter to win 53-30 Friday night in the Rider gym.

After Bremerton led 9-8 at the end of the first quarter, Bailee Jones hit four buckets inside to lead the Riders to a 26-17 halftime advantage.

Combining tough defense with solid inside play, the Riders kept up the pressure to pull away outscoring the Lady Knights 27-13 in the second half.

Jones and Krista Johnson led Port Angeles with 14 points each while Sawyer Kluge led Bremerton with 13.

Girls Scoring:

Bremerton (30) -- Sawyer Kluge 13, Alyssa Beach 8, Alycia Heriford 5, Cienna King 4, Elysabeth Lamoureux, Sophie Beringer, Lacey Johnson.

Port Angeles (53) -- Krista Johnson 14, Bailee Jones 14, Maddy Hinrichs 7, Kylee Jeffers 5, Jolene Millsap 5, Payton Lee 4, Lenora Hofer 2, Brittany Norberg 2, Maddie Boe, Hayley Baxley.

BOYS - On the boys' side, the Bremerton Knights improved their league mark to 5-0 by beating the Rider Boys 80-71 victory on their home court.

After a 23-13 second quarter gave Bremerton a 46-30 lead at the half, the Riders played their way back into the game but could not quite close the gap.

Bremerton was led by Deonte Dixon's 27 points while Brady Konopaski led the Riders with 17.
