Sequim boys and girls sweep Klahowya

(Silverdale) -- Alex Barry scored 29 points as the defensive minded Sequim High Wolves boys basketball team defeated the Klahowya Eagles 59-47 Friday night.

The Wolves (5-1 overall and 4-1 in Olympic League play) scored the first 8 points of the game, but the scrappy Eagles countered with 10 straight to go ahead by 2 with 3 minutes remaining in the opening quarter. Sequim got the lead back at 13-10 on Anthony Pinza's triple and never trailed again, ahead 17-14 at the first buzzer.

Barry had 14 points in the second quarter, scoring 4 two pointers and a pair of treys, with the Wolves ahead 35-24 at intermission.

Sequim concluded the third period with nine consecutive points, ahead by 17 -- 46-29.

Klahowya (1-6 overall and 0-4 in Olympic League play) was led by Connor Schnuit with 10, Ricky Holguin with 9, while Kendall Kitts and Mitchell Knuckey added 6 apiece.

Rory Kallappa paced Sequim with 13, while Pinza and Erik Christensen canned 7 markers apiece.

The Wolves will play in the Franklin High School Tournament of Champions in Seattle on December 26th, 27th and 28th.

Sequim resumes Olympic League play January 7th at home against North Kitsap.

In girls action Friday night at Rick Kaps Gym, the Lady Wolves defeated Klahowya 48-43.
