Unemployment rises again in Clallam County

(Port Angeles) Unemployment rates rose again last month in Clallam County.

According to state figures, the unemployment rate stood at 8.5 percent. That's up two tenths of a point from October's 8.3 percent.

This November's rate is about half a percent below the unemployment rate a year ago. In the past month, 70 more employees went on jobless benefits. The labor force also shrunk by 140 workers.

Compared to November 2012, Clallam County lost 220 jobs and the labor force shrank by 800 workers.

The statewide unemployment rate in November remained at six and a half percent, the same as October and almost a full percentage point better than in November last year.
