Port Angeles Rider girls get road win

Port Angeles outscored Burlington-Edison 18-7 in the last period to beat the Tigers, 43-40 in Burlington Friday.

Trailing 33-25 at the end of the third period, the Rider clamped down the Tiger offense with a pressing zone defense and, led by guard Krysta Johnson with 3 steals, battled back to get the win.

The Riders took a 34-33 lead with 5:12 left on a Johnson steal and Maddie Hinrichs layin. After a Tiger basket, Maddie Boe hit, then Nizhoni Wheeler dropped a two. Kylee Jeffers sealed the win with two free throws with 13.8 seconds left and the Tigers missed three long range attempts to tie the game.

Hinrichs had 12, Boe 11 for the Riders. PA goes to Bonny Lake Monday for a 3:15 game.

The Rider boys host Black Hllls Saturday at 6:30
