Rider boys outscore Black Hills

December 28th, 2013 - 8:42pm

The Port Angeles Roughrider boys took an 81-71 win over Black Hills Saturday to run their basketball record to 6-4.

Relentless pressure defense and a fast-paced offense wore down the Wolves who had eight players suited. After a 45-37 halftime lead, PA took a 44-26 second half win to record the final margin.

Black Hills frosh guard TGJ Michelson stole the show, scoring 26 points, but he had tired legs in the final period and was held to six points at the end.

The Riders had one of their better shooting nights, hitting 30 of 64 shots for 47 percent, canning 23 of 44 through the third period when they took a 60-54 lead.

Hunter Hathaway had 22 to lead the Riders, Hayden Gunderson had 20 off the bench and Derek Schumacher added 14.

PA rests until Jan 10th when Sequim boys and girls visit Port Angeles.
