Rider girls come up short

The Port Angeles girls basketball team finished the year at 8-2 followimg a 43-39 loss at Bonney Lake Monday.

PA held the Panthers without a two-point shot in the last period, but had trouble scoring themselves and came up; short against the 3A team which is 7-2 overall.

The Riders led 22-21 at the half, but the Panthers took a 36-32 third period lead on the strength of two long bombs by Gabby Ruiz and Payton Mitchell in the last 20 seconds.

The Riders tied the game at 39, but Kayla Seger hit four straight free throws in the last minute to record the final margin.

Maddie Hinrichs led the Riders with 14. Seger had 12, Riley Jensen 10 for the Panthers.

PA resumes Olympic League play Jan 10th at home against Sequim.
