PA man jailed for alleged burning, strangling woman

(Port Angeles) – A Port Angeles man remains in jail on charges he strangled and burned a woman last month.
52-year-old Ronald Smith is accused of using a curling iron to burn a woman he knew, punched her in the head and strangled her until she almost lost consciousness. He's also accused of trashing a residence and fighting with another woman who tried to intervene.
The incident happened December 27t at a residence near Gales Street along Highway 101 east of Port Angeles.
Smith will be arraigned on second-degree and fourth-degree assault charges related to domestic violence later this week. He's being held on 25-thousand dollars bail.
