New Clallam judge to be sworn in
January 7th, 2014 - 5:31am
(Port Angeles) – Clallam County's newest Superior Court judge will be sworn in today.
Chris Melly has already been hearing some cases, but he becomes official today in a public swearing-in ceremony at the courthouse.
Melly was picked by Governor Jay Inslee to take over for Brooke Taylor. Taylor retired from the bench at the end of last year. Melly will serve for the rest of the year, but the position goes before voters again in the fall.
Melly was most recently the county's hearings examiner and has served as a deputy prosecutor in King and Clallam counties.
He ran unsuccessfully for another spot on the Superior Court bench last year.
