PA woman to take over state arts commission

(Port Angeles) – A Port Angeles resident will head up the state's arts commission.
Karen Hanan starts her job in Olympia March 1st after being chosen by Governor Jay Inslee for the job.
She will be stepping down as the executive director of Arts Northwest in the middle of next month.
Hanan has held that position for nearly 13 years. Prior to that she was the founder and first executive director of the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts. She also hosted a radio show on KONP radio for nearly 20 years.
Arts Northwest will open a nationwide search for its next Chief Executive.
The state arts commission is a government agency established in 1961 that advocates for arts outreach and education and also cares for the state art collection sited at public schools and state agencies.
