First female commissioner takes over at Port of Port Angeles

(Port Angeles) -- The first female commissioner in the history of the Port of Port Angeles officially takes her seat today.

Colleen McAleer will be sworn in, and take part in her first board meeting as a commissioner this morning.

McAleer won the seat last fall, defeating Del Delabarre in the general election. The incumbent commissioner, Paul McHugh was didn't make it through he primary election last August.

McAleer is the port's former property and business development manager. She stepped down from that position last week.

The port has hired Tonya Kerr to take overcast he property manager. Kerr is the former managing broker for Re/max Fifth Avenue real estate in Sequim. Kerr is only taking on the property management duties, the port has not filled the position of business development.
