(Port Angeles) -- The Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce has agreed to enter into a committee that will explore possible merging of three business groups.
The chamber's board voted last week to send representatives to a yet-to-be-formed ad hoc committee.
The committee will explore ways the chamber, Port Angeles Business Association and the Port Angeles Downtown Association could possibly unite as one entity.
The idea for the committee was floated last week at a PABA meeting. The PABA board is expected to take up participation in the ad hoc committee this week.
The downtown association so far has not made any comments on the idea and has not indicated whether or not it may take up participation in the ad hoc committee.
The ad hoc committee idea is the latest in a community-wide conversation that has emerged on ways the separate groups in the area that deal with promotion and economic development could unite.
The chamber sponsored a forum on the consolidation idea late last year, Peninsula College has offered to hold larger-scale meetings on the possibility as well.
