PABA and PADA agree to join ad hoc merger committee

(Port Angeles) – Two more Port Angeles business groups have agreed to join a committee to look at possible merger.
The Port Angeles Business Association Tuesday agreed to be part of the ad hoc committee.
The move came after the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce board last week made the same decision last week.
However, PABA members were vocal today they didn't want to see changes with the association.
The committee idea was floated earlier this month to explore potential merging of the PABA, chamber and Port Angeles Downtown Association.
The PADA also says it will send people to the committee as well. But, members of the PADA made it clear they will not change due to mandates to promote downtown only.
Under the proposal, each group will send three members to the committee.
The idea surfaced as part of a larger, community-wide conversation that has emerged about ways local economic-development and promotion groups could operate more efficiently with a cohesive effort.
The chamber hosted a forum on the idea late last year and Peninsula College is offering to facility a broader discussion about uniting more groups and the economic development vision locally.
