(Sequim) – A building team passed over to construct Sequim's new city hall will get a payout from the city.
The city will pay 30-thousand dollars to Hoffman Construction and Belay Architecture. The team's design was rejected because it came in nearly a million dollars more than the city estimated the cost.
It's the latest payout given to firms that were passed over for the job. The city has now paid close to $160-thousand dollars to two teams passed over for the project.
The city is required under state law to pay money to firms that were not chosen if the proposals meets criteria for the project.
The city late last year selected a team including Lydig Construction to build the nearly 12-million dollar facility.
The new city hall and police station in Sequim will be a barn-style design.
The 30-thousand square-foot building will be located just east of the current city hall and will unite the police station and all the city's office under one roof.
The new facility is expected to be finished sometime next year.
The overall project is expected to cost close to 15 million dollars.
