United Way struggling to meet fundraising goal

January 17th, 2014 - 5:20am

(Port Angeles) – The United Way of Clallam County is struggling to meet its annual fund raising goal.

United Way executive director Jody Moss says giving this year has decreased significantly.

Currently the United Way campaign, which runs through March is at only $712,000. The goal was a million dollars this year.

Moss says it's all about the economy. She says her volunteers tell her people are having fatigue over our economic woes. Moss say the “Big Recession” may have ended in other parts of the country, but not in Clallam County.

In 2008, the United Way raised more than a million dollars. Each year after that, the campaign has hovered at around 900-thousand dollars.

The United Way funding help fund 23 health and social service agencies across Clallam County.
