(Port Angeles) – The Clallam County Economic Development Council will assist in an upcoming regional workshop dealing with economic development.
Yesterday, the EDC board approved having it's executive committee and a contingent of private business representatives to help Peninsula College’s efforts to coordinate the workshop.
PC president Dr. Luke Robbins says the college is willing to work through Washington State University to facilitate a gathering of economic development leaders. They could explore ways to create a more cohesive approach to economic development for the region. Currently there are more than two dozen individual groups that work on economic development issues in the area.
Robbins told the EDC board a series of milestones has been drafted, and continues to be developed in conjunction with WSU for the workshop.
The EDC will help with collecting historic economic development and strategy documents from various local agencies. The EDC also plans to archive the documents and make them available on its website.
The workshop is part of an ongoing effort to re-examine economic development and promotion efforts in the area. The Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Port Angeles Business Association, Port Angeles Downtown Association and the CEO Group have also agreed to meet in an ad hoc committee to look at ways those groups might collaborate.
