Rep. Kilmer touring area for "State of the District"

January 21st, 2014 - 5:45am

(Sequim) – Congressman Derek Kilmer begins a tour of Clallam County today.

Kilmer plans to meet with constituents, local business leaders and various stakeholders.

He's calling it the "State of the District Tour" and says he hope to better understand the concerns of his constituents and promote his plans for economic development.

Last week, Kilmer released an “Olympic Peninsula Economic Development Initiative”.

Kilmer says the six-point plan lays out ideas, bills, and tools that would strengthen the foundations of economic growth, promote innovation and entrepreneurism, and to protect natural resources.

Kilmer says he thinks the federal government could be used to better leverage some of the economic development components in place on the Olympic Peninsula.

Over the next few days, Kilmer will also visit the other counties in the Sixth District as part of his tour.
