City approves electric bill assistance program

January 24th, 2014 - 5:33am

(Port Angeles) Many families in Port Angeles will find their light bills smaller than before.

That's after the city council this week approved a new low income utility assistance program.

The city is implementing a two-tiered discount level of 25 percent, and 35 percent this year.

City Light's Customer Service Manager Rick Hostetler says the discount would only apply to electrical charges...not the entire utility bill. The program will be in effect until the money runs out. There is $150-thousand dollars dedicated to the program, and Hostetler isn't sure how long that will last.

If and when the money runs out. Hostetler hopes other resources will be available.

Eligible City Light customers may expect to see any changes during the February billings.
