Rider boys sink Vikings

Port Angeles boys had their best overall basketball game of the year in Poulsbo Tuesday as they bested the tall Morth Kitsap Vikings, 86-76.
The Riders (9-4,11-6) are one half game ahead of Olympic (8-4,10-6) for third place in the Olympic League standings with three games left. Top four teams advance to West Central District.
PA had many heroes: Derek Schumacher had 24, leading the Riders with 10 in the first period.
Hayden Gunderson had 23, hitting 7 three's for the night and all came when the Riders needed a hoop.
Hunter Hathaway added 18, hitting 11 in the third period as the Riders pulled away from a 37-34 lead to a 63-53 lead.
NK was led by Adam Lemmon with 20, Calvin Dennis with 18, but the Rider defense caused 26 Viking turnovers which helped the win.
League-leading Bremerton visits the Riders Friday night.
