(Port Angeles) Unemployment rates ticked up again last month in Clallam County.

According to state figures, the county's unemployment rate was at 8.6 percent. That's up almost half a percent from November.

It's about a full percentage point lower than in December of 2012.

But the local labor force has shrunk by more than a thousand workers in the past year. Last month saw about 450 fewer people in the labor market than in November. The number of people employed dropped by almost 500 people between November and December.

The biggest drops in employment last month came from leisure and hospitality, government jobs and health services and construction.

Jefferson County's unemployment rate was also up half a percent to 8.4 percent.
