Rider boys bow to Bremerton

January 31st, 2014 - 9:05pm

The Bremerton Knights held off a big Rider rally in the last quarter to take a 71-66 win from PA.

The Knights (13-0, 15-3) clinched at least a tie for first in the standings.

Sequim (11-2, 13-4) beat Klahowya, 68-26, to keep their hold on second.

Port Angeles (9-5, 11-7) still needs a win in their last two games to assure the third or fourth berth to district.

Deonte Dixon did in the Riders, scoring 16 of his 32 points in the last quarter, hitting 9/11 from the foul line to hold off the Riders.

PA closed to 56-55 with 4:32 left, but then Dixon hit two freebies, followed that with two more after a Rider miss, then added a basket near the end to seal the deal.

PA senior Hayden Gunderson hit three treys in the last period to keep the Riders close and his fourth one came at the buzzer.

The Riders will be upset-minded when they go to Sequim Friday.
