New PA bridge closer to completion, detours set

February 7th, 2014 - 5:45am

(Port Angeles) Weather has delayed construction of the new Lauridsen Boulevard Bridge in Port Angeles.

But beginning today, there will be a new detour along Race Street as crews push closer to finishing the project.

Northbound Race Street traffic will detoured east on Park Avenue and around the construction site. Southbound traffic will be detoured onto Ninth Street and join up with Park Avenue, then back to Race Street.

The detours will stay in place through the weekend.

Crews are taking out a crane platform. The platform was built to install the girders for the bridge.

Later this month, crews will start pouring the concrete deck of the new bridge. The project is expected to be finished in March. That's a month behind the original schedule.
