Sequim to add LED street lights

February 10th, 2014 - 5:27am

(Sequim) The city of Sequim is replacing some of its street lights with LED bulbs.

75 lights along Washington Street will get the new, energy efficient upgrade.

City streets manager Mike Brandt say the the city should save about $1000 a year for every 25 LED street lights installed.

He adds there will be less labor cost too, since the lights last longer and don't have to be replaced as often as the traditional bulbs.

The cost for the LED units was included in the 2013 approved budget. The PUD is reimbursing part of the cost as part of the utility's conservation incentive program.
