Significant snow could hit north Peninsula this weekend

February 21st, 2014 - 10:28am

(Port Angeles) – There is a chance of significant snow on the north Olympic Peninsula this weekend.

National Weather Service forecasters say temperatures will drop, Cold air is expected to flow in from the northwest and mix with moisture. That's the condition that can create lots of snow in the Port Angeles-Sequim area as a “reverse rain shadow” forms and the system can stall on the north side of the Olympic Mountains.

Forecasters say we could see up to eight inches of snow Sunday into Monday. However, the forecast models have been in disagreement and forecasters say there is a chance the snow could be a lot less or even more.
