Gary Smith named Sequim Citizen of the Year

(Sequim) – Gary Smith has been named Sequim Citizen of the Year.
The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce made the presentation at a luncheon Tuesday at Sunland.
Smith and his family have run the Maple Valley Farms for more than 40 years, one of the two remaining dairy farms in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley.
Smith served as past president for the Dungeness Agricultural Water Users Association and the Sequim Prairie Tri-Irrigation Company.
Al Friess received Recognition in Honors for his second nomination for the Citizen of the Year award.
Patsy Mattingly received the Chamber's Community Service Award.
Leo Shipley was presented with the Bill and Esther Littlejohn Humanitarian Award.
It is an honor that has only been awarded 3 times.
The Littlejohns were bestowed in 2007, while Brown and Sara Maloney received it in 2008.
Shipley was recognized for his 2-million dollar contribution to the Sequim Senior Center in 2013.
