(Discovery Bay) -- An accident on Highway 104 near Discovery Bay Thursday afternoon resulted in the airlift
of an injured Port Angeles man to a Seattle hospital.
The Washington State Patrol says 70-year-old Phillip L. Charles was airlifted to Harborview Medical
Troopers report 57-year-old Randal D. Miller of Port Angeles and Charles were traveling eastbound on motorcycles
in the inside of two lanes up the long grade at milepost 1.
Reports say an unknown vehicle traveling westbound passed another vehicle, swinging into Miller's eastbound lane.
Authorities say Miller braked to avoid a head-on collision. Charles also took to evasive braking,
but hit Miller's bike from behind, losing control and was thrown off his motorcycle.
Miller's cycle stayed upright and he wasn't injured.
Troopers say the pass by the unknown vehicle appears to have been legal and they currently are not seeking the driver.
The State Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
