Port Angeles hopes for hoops championship dashed

(Yakima) -- The Port Angeles Roughrider girls' basketball team lost a heart breaker this morning in the state 2A tournament.

The Lynden Lions roared back from a double digit deficit to win the game 53-52 in the final minutes in Yakima. Port Angeles managed to wrestle a lead back with a few seconds left in the game, but Lynden won on a free throw with three seconds left.

Port Angeles drops to the losers bracket and will play East Valley for Spokane tomorrow morning at 9 am.

The highest Port Angeles can finish is fourth place in the state.

KONP will tomorrow's game beginning at 8:45 am.
