(Port Angeles) -- A Port Angeles woman has been convicted by a Clallam County District Court jury this week of Driving Under the Influence and faces a mandatory sentence of at least 45 days in jail.
Court documents reveal 47-year-old Lisa Pene-Barnes drove her vehicle off the road into a tree on Highway 101 west of Port Angeles on October 25, 2013 about 11:30 PM.
Pene-Barnes testified that she was a passenger in the vehicle, although evidence showed her passenger had head injuries consistent with the damage officers found on the windshield.
Officer testimony indicated the windshield was cracked on the passenger side of the windshield and there was a bulge at the center of the webbing of cracked glass in the shape of a personís head. Pene-Barnes had injuries to the torso but not to her head.
According to testimony, her blood alcohol level was point-18, more than twice the legal limit.
Because Pene-Barnes has a prior D-U-I conviction, barring a few exceptions, she faces a mandatory sentence of at least 45 days jail plus fines and Electronic Home Monitoring.
