Major sewage spill contaminates PA harbor

March 10th, 2014 - 5:35am

(Port Angeles) Local public health officials say stay away from the waters of Port Angeles harbor for the rest of this week.

Heavy rains last week sent about 6 million gallons of combined rain and raw sewage into the harbor.

The deluge overwhelmed the city's stormwater system, which caused the spill.

Officials say fecal bacteria in the sewage could result in skin rashes, respiratory infections and other illnesses.

The public health warning is in effect through Friday.
