Port to make executive director pick official Tuesday

March 11th, 2014 - 5:42am

(Port Angeles) The Port of Port Angeles will get a new permanent executive director today.

Port commissioners will formally offer a contract to interim director Ken O'Hollaren.

Port commissioners chose O'Hollaren after the Longview resident told them earlier this year he was interested in staying on the job.

The port pulled out of an executive search contract, and began negotiating an agreement with the long-time port executive. Port commissioners decided not to interview any other candidates.

O'Hollaren has been the interim executive director in Port Angeles since last August. Before that he was the executive director at the Port of Longview for nearly 25 years.

Commission presidents Jim Hallett and commissioner Colleen McAleer have both publicly voiced support for O'Hollaren, saying he's done well to quite turmoil that enveloped the port after last summer's resignation of the former executive director Jeff Robb and his subsequent appointment into a new environmental position at the same salary rate.
