PA Schools pick Jackson as new superintendent

(Port Angeles) – The Port Angeles School Board made a unanimous decision at its board meeting Thursday night to offer Dr. Marc Jackson a three year contract as the district's new superintendent beginning July 1st, 2014.
A news release from the School District says Board President Steve Baxter made the phone call to Jackson immediately after the meeting adjourned, and Jackson enthusiastically accepted the position.
Baxter says contract negotiations will begin tomorrow.
“Dr. Jackson’s consistency, his collaborative abilities, previous bond experience, work background, Cmmon Core knowledge were combined qualities and assets which helped us reach our decision,” Baxter stated.
“Our follow up work and reference checks showed he empowers people, particularly his staff, and that he’s strategic in his planning with a focus on student success. His ideals align with our strategic plan and district goals,” Baxter added.
“The Directors thank the community and staff members for their input throughout this search process,” Baxter continued. “It was so helpful and so very valuable to the overall decision making process.
Jackson is presently the superintendent of schools for the Silver Valley Unified School District in Yermo, California.
He served as assistant superintendent of schools and personnel in the Oxnard School District and has been principal at Bassett High School, La Sierra High School and Lone Hill Middle School, all in California.
Jackson has a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of La Verne, a Master of Science in Education from California State University Fullerton, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from La Verne College.
Dr. Jane Pryne retires as current superintendent June 30th, 2014.
