Port Angeles may change city council term limits
April 1st, 2014 - 5:47am
(Port Angeles) – The city of Port Angeles may be close to changing the term limits for city council members.
Tonight, the city council will begin a formal discussion on the topic.
Currently, the city limits the number of terms a city council member may serve to three consecutive four-year terms.
But a majority of the council is asking that the topic of changing those terms be brought up in a regular city council meeting.
City attorney Bill Bloor says Port Angeles is one of only four cities in the state that currently impose term limits.
The city council could ask staff to come back with some proposed changes after tonight's meeting.
